FATF – Combating the Financing of Terrorism

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) points out the the high risk for non-profit organisations (NPOs) to be misused by terrorist organisations. The ongoing international campaign against terrorist financing has demonstrated, that terrorists and terrorist organisations may exploit the NPO sector to raise and move funds or otherwise support terrorist organisations and operations.

The Foundation Supvervisory Authority (FSA) asks all bodies or representatives of common-benefit foundations to follow the recommendations issued by the FATF and immediately file a report to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in case of suspicious facts (Art. 17 Due Diligence Act; DDA).

For more detailed information about the FATF recommendations in order to combat the financing of terrorism as well as to provide more information about the correct procedure in case of suspect, the FSA has published a fact sheet.
